PogoBooks – GOLD & SILBER by Peter Kaaden

Published by PogoBooks (not affiliated with LRP)

Peter Kaaden is a favorite of ours at LRP. A true devotee to analogue-styled phrenetic photography. His scratched surfaces and often grainy and contrasting portrayal of nudity, human body parts, eroticism, sex, passion, intimacy and more primal aspects of human interaction and emotion move us at LRP. We like rhythm and movement in photography. We love it. As diverse as they are interesting, Kaaden’  photo work captures the youth around him in spontaneous unrehearsed moments. “I always shoot friends or people I have any kind of relationship with. Sometimes even people I want to be friends with,” Kaaden states. “Interesting people. Weird people. Beautiful or crazy minds.” (Dazed, 2012). It’s Kaaden’s access to his subjects and the subject matter itself that makes his photo essays so personal and familiar, “in the room” and turn-the-page photo work. Looking forward to future projects. Kaaden has published two books (his Zine sold out) through POGO BooksSildber (2013) and Gold (2013).

“Raised in a small town in Germany and relocating to NY to work with the likes of Ryan McGinley the young photographer Peter Kaaden shoots strong, often provocative, graphic imagery, Inspired by youth, rebellion and the voyeuristic aspects of soft porn, his work features sometimes unsettling and often nude subjects as the result of his attempt to capture the reality of everyday life. Shooting only on film for the excitement of unexpected outcomes and lack of control over what he is producing, Kaaden thrives on spontaneous moments” (Soho House Magazine – 2012).
