Project Submission Call: Photo Essay Book Projects

We are looking for creative content producers, brand developers, producers and peer influencers committed to executing innovative ideas in the print book marketplace. Producers will curate, edit and produce imaginative and original style Thematic Photo Essay Book projects that capture the intersection of social movements, culture, news reporting and editorial.

What are Photo Essay Book Projects?

Thematic Photo Essay Book projects are defined by a combination of photos and writing work. Photo examples include the producer’s own curated photos from Instagram and professional archives and additional (optional) photos from photographers curated by the producer from through in-network or open call submissions. Writing examples include the producer’s own writing and writing (optional) curated and edited by the producer through in-network or open call submissions. Types of writing include Nonfiction; Experimental Nonfiction Expository; Memoir; Interviews (long-form and/or short-form e.g. block-quotes, and quotes); Journalism; Op-ed; and Social Commentary.

Would We Consider Photos Only?

The short answer is yes of course! We are accepting proposals of photo books without writing work. However, the photos should still be thematically connected in some way. Make the case.

Requirements?

Producers do not have to have a track record in publishing or previously published works in market to be considered for Thematic Photo Essay Book projects. However, producers must have an established and measurable following on Instagram. A minimum of 25K Instagram followers. In some cases, we would consider the aggregate total following of a curated work by more than one producer which could be a combination of the producer’s work and contributed work from photographers and/or writers curated by the producer facilitated through in-network or open call submissions. Producers must also have an established presence on at least one other Social Network (Twitter, FB, Reddit) and an established personal or professional website or storefront.
