Open Call Short Nonfiction Books Proposal Submissions

LRP is looking for talented podcasters, journalists, bloggers, and writers located in the New York metropolitan area to submit short nonfiction book proposals (30,000 and 40,000 words) to our open submission call for short nonfiction works. Writers committed to non-fiction works that capture the depth, breadth, and complexity of life, culture, and history.

What are “Short Nonfiction” Books?

  • Short nonfiction books are shorter than full-length nonfiction works which range between 70K-90K words. Short nonfiction books range typically between 30,000 and 40,000 words.

  • We will be publishing these works at a 5x8 format at approximately 125-150 pages.

Note: We are currently only accepting short nonfiction book submissions from writers living in the New York Metropolitan area. We will be expanding to other cities in 2021.

What Type of Nonfiction Submissions?

Narrative, expository, persuasive descriptive works covering a range of topics. We are especially interested in memoir short nonfiction works.

Submissions

For all submissions, please include additional information on the submission form if it will help us understand your book proposal concept. We are most interested in getting a feel for the subject matter of your project. Perfect presentation isn’t as important as strong content Please note that because of the volume of proposals we receive we cannot individually acknowledge them. If we like the sound of a proposal, then we will reply to you within thirty (30) days. If you have not heard from us after thirty (30) days then we are unable to take your project forward.
